Andrea trained at the Royal Ballet Upper School before joining Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet, which later became Birmingham Royal Ballet. She danced with the company for 24 years, 18 of which as a First Soloist, performing in much of Birmingham Royal Ballet’s repertoire. Her repertory included Odette/Odile (Swan Lake), Myrtha, Queen of the Wilis (Giselle) and leading and soloist roles in ballets by Ashton (Enigma Variations, Birthday Offering, Symphonic Variations, Dante Sonata, Façade, and The Dream), Balanchine (Agon, Serenade, Symphony in Three Movements), Bintley (Flowers of the Forest, The Nutcracker Sweeties, Brahms Handel Variations, The Protecting Veil, The Shakespeare Suite), MacMillan (Concerto, Elite Syncopations, Romeo and Juliet ), Van Manen (Grosse Fuge, Five Tangos) and in Peter Wright's productions of The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Coppélia.
Andrea left Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2011 to undertake the Royal Academy of Dance Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma, and a M.Sc. in Sport and Exercise Psychology, passing both with distinction. She has been teaching for Elmhurst Ballet School since 2012. Her other teaching experience includes: Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Department for Learning, the University of Wolverhampton, The Royal Academy of Dance, Centre for Advanced Dance Training (Birmingham), ACE Music and Dance, and DanceXchange.
